The Tie
My son, you have picked your first tie.
A signal that you've grown a man
Reverse the perfect knot you'll try
The mirror look and say you can
Requiring work but pride you'll take
Your hands not once but twice redo
To get it right your hands will ache
As the time moves by and by you
And as they say how time does fly
My shoes, big shoes you will but fill
Your whiskered face, your hair not dry
The knot you tie will fit the bill
Your tiny hands are bigger now
No mirror needed your routine
Look at yourself this time allow
This while before the day you lean
Nor was my mirror ever need
This could be done in light or dark
Collect myself my daily deed
before the day I'd make my mark
